Private by design. Your list is saved only in this browser on this device. It is never sent to us or anyone else, and there is no account. Clearing your browser data removes it. Saving is switched off in this browser, so nothing will be remembered after you close the page.
A general list. This is a general packing guide, not a hospital rule. Ask your doctor or the hospital whether anything extra is needed for your delivery. Your ticks and items stay in this browser only.
How to use the checklist
Tick items as you pack them. Remove anything you do not need with the cross, and add your own items under each heading. The ring shows how much is packed. Use Print for a paper copy to keep by the bag. Your list is saved in this browser, so it is still here the next time you open the page.
When to pack
Our article says most doctors recommend having the bag ready by week 36, though it is worth starting earlier. The NHS suggests at least 3 weeks before your due date. Only about 1 in 20 babies arrive on their due date. Guidelines vary, so ask your own doctor.
What not to overpack
Skip excess jewellery and valuables, large quantities of baby products “just in case”, and bulky outerwear or many pairs of shoes. Most hospitals provide basic newborn essentials, so confirm with yours. Read the full guide: Preparing your hospital bag before delivery. Also read when to head in on the contraction timer, and know the warning signs.

Frequently asked questions
When should I pack my hospital bag?
Our article says most doctors recommend having it ready by week 36. The NHS suggests at least 3 weeks before your due date. Both agree that labour can start earlier than expected, so earlier is fine. Ask your own doctor if you are expecting twins or are at higher risk of an early birth.
Do I need to pack everything for the baby?
Many hospitals provide basic newborn essentials, but confirm with your hospital and pack a reasonable backup. Avoid buying too many newborn-size clothes in advance, as babies grow quickly.
What if labour starts before my bag is ready?
Focus on the essentials first: documents, comfortable clothing and toiletries. Most other items can be brought later by a family member.
Is my list saved or sent anywhere?
Your ticks and your own items are saved only in this browser on this device, so they are there when you return. Nothing is sent to us or anyone else. Clearing your browser data removes the list.
Should I pack differently for a caesarean?
The core items are the same, but looser, higher-waisted clothing is more comfortable around the cut. Ask your doctor what they suggest for you.
