What is happening in week 35
Doctors count pregnancy weeks from the first day of your last period, so week 35 sits in the third trimester (week 28 until birth). That is about 5 weeks to go until week 40, and about 8.0 months by a rough conversion. In week 35 the baby is about 46.2cm long and getting chubbier.
Your baby
The NHS guide gives about 46.2cm, a honeydew melon. The baby is getting chubbier, which will help it stay warm after birth. Movements should still feel as strong and regular as before.
Your body
Ribs may feel sore from the baby’s head-down position and kicking. Braxton Hicks tightenings and yellowish colostrum stains in your bra are common.
This week’s to-do
- Notice and keep track of your baby’s usual movements.
- Rest and take short breaks during the day.
- Confirm your plan for getting to the hospital.
When to call
Call your doctor or hospital if you have severe pain under your ribs (a possible pre-eclampsia sign), changed, reduced or stopped baby movements, or any bleeding.
Chaitanya Hospital in Kadapa, near RTC Bus Stand, Simhapuri Colony, provides delivery and emergency care 24/7. Our antenatal check-ups team can answer questions about your own pregnancy.
Use the week-by-week guide to jump to your week, or the due date calculator to work out your dates. Timings for scans and tests come from NHS guidance in the UK and can differ from your doctor’s schedule, so always follow your own doctor’s advice.
