What is happening in week 25
Doctors count pregnancy weeks from the first day of your last period, so week 25 sits in the second trimester (week 14 to week 27). That is about 15 weeks to go until week 40, and about 5.7 months by a rough conversion. At about 34.6cm in week 25, the baby is active and may hiccup.
Your baby
The NHS guide gives about 34.6cm, a courgette. The baby may jump or kick at loud noises and can get hiccups. Most of the fluid around the baby is now urine, which cushions it.
Your body
Puffiness in the face, hands and feet from water retention is usually harmless but worth mentioning. Indigestion and heartburn are common and small meals help.
This week’s to-do
- Eat smaller meals to ease heartburn and feeling full.
- Mention any puffiness in your face, hands or feet to your doctor or midwife.
- Have your blood pressure checked because of any swelling.
When to call
Call your doctor or hospital if you have splitting headaches, vision problems, pain just below the ribs or any bleeding; these can be signs of pre-eclampsia.
Chaitanya Hospital in Kadapa, near RTC Bus Stand, Simhapuri Colony, provides delivery and emergency care 24/7. Our antenatal check-ups team can answer questions about your own pregnancy.
Use the week-by-week guide to jump to your week, or the due date calculator to work out your dates. Timings for scans and tests come from NHS guidance in the UK and can differ from your doctor’s schedule, so always follow your own doctor’s advice.
